>> Crosslinks of Early Universe Cosmology, from 15 July – 2 August 2024
>> Organized by Julia Harz (JGU Mainz), Carlos Tamarit (JGU Mainz), and Felix Yu (JGU Mainz). The registration deadline is 25 March 2024.
>> Abstract: The MITP Summer School 2024 on "Crosslinks of Early Universe Cosmology" will feature internationally recognized scientists giving lectures focusing on the exciting developments and interdisciplinary research in early universe cosmology. Lecture topics will include in-depth reviews of the cosmological history of the universe and thermal field theory, as well as overviews of the state of the art of dark matter research, neutrino physics, gravitational waves, baryogenesis and leptogenesis, indirect detection and multimessenger physics, and specialized topics such as phase transitions and non-standard cosmological relics. The school is aimed at advanced graduate students in theoretical physics specializing in particle physics and/or cosmology. We expect to accommodate ~50 students from around the world at the Erbacher Hof in downtown Mainz. The registration fee will include shared-room housing at the Erbacher Hof, full board for the weekdays and breakfast on weekends, as well as a selection of group and touristic activities in the Mainz region. Lecturers will also be housed at the Erbacher Hof, ensuring a dynamic environment for students to engage with peers and senior physicists. Applications will be open soon and the decisions for admission to the school are expected to be communicated by the end of March 2024.For further information and for the application see: https://indico.mitp.uni-mainz.de/event/381/

The Cosmology and Relativity Group is part of the Astronomy Unit [6] at
QMUL consisting of 8 permanent staff members (Tessa Baker, Phil Bull,
Chris Clarkson, Tim Clifton, Karim Malik, David Mulryne, Alkistis
Pourtsidou and Will Sutherland), together with ~7 postdocs and ~10 PhD
students, with an active international visitors programme. The vibrant
group has diverse research interests spanning large-scale structure and
radio cosmology, inflation and the early universe, advanced perturbation
theory, and modified gravity. Group members play key roles in many
international experiments, including the Square Kilometre Array,
Hydrogen Epoch of Reionization Array (HERA), Euclid, and the Large
Synoptic Survey Telescope (LSST). The Astronomy Unit has access to
excellent local computational facilities, including an HPC cluster with
5000 cores, and a Tier2 GridPP cluster with more than 5PB of storage and
2000 cores. Projects 1 & 2 will be in close collaboration with
researchers in South Africa, at the Centre for Radio Cosmology [7] at
the University of the Western Cape in Cape Town, and successful
applicants will have the opportunity to spend significant periods of
their fellowship there.
We welcome applications from all qualified applicants, but applications
are particularly encouraged from traditionally under-represented groups
in science. QMUL holds the Athena SWAN [8] Silver award and the School
of Physics and Astronomy holds Juno Champion [9] status from the
Institute of Physics which shows our commitment to promoting an
inclusive working environment.
Applications (application form, CV, publication list and research
statement) should be submitted via the online application system by the
closing date. Applicants should also arrange for up to three reference
letters to be sent by email to Jazmina Vaca Ortiz (spa-hr at qmul.ac.uk) to
arrive by the same date. Please feel free to contact any of the project
leaders for further information.

Inhomogeneous Cosmologies IV, Torun, 14-19 July 2019
During 14-19 July 2019 we are gathering experts in inhomogeneous
cosmology for a small workshop of about 30 participants at Nicolaus
Copernicus University in Torun, the town where Copernicus was born. We
wish to map out the most promising directions for analytical,
numerical and observational investigations aimed to take into account
both structure formation and cosmological expansion within the
constraints of general relativity. Can we clarify the physics present
in the relativistic cosmology software now being developed? Are the
calculations artificially constrained or are they fully relativistic?
Can we achieve accurate postdiction of cosmological observations and
follow up by making predictions for the upcoming decade of new major
survey projects? We expect vigorous, constructive debate between
"one-percenters" and "order-unity" proponents, and practical hands-on
sessions of free-licensed inhomogeneous cosmology software packages.
Feel free to redistribute this announcement. Check the CosmoTorun19
website or subscribe to the inhom newsletter to know when registration
is open.

Topics will include:
* exact cosmological solutions of the Einstein equations
* averaging and backreaction in cosmology
* numerical cosmological relativity
* observational tests

Deadline: 2019-02-22
Location: Torun, Poland
The Faculty of Physics, Astronomy and Informatics of the Nicolaus
Copernicus University invites applications for 12- to 24-month
postdoctoral positions (adiunkt naukowy) in theoretical/observational
inhomogeneous cosmology. A substantial fraction of the successful
candidates' research work will be expected to focus on the possible
links between inhomogeneous cosmology and dark matter, but they will
also be expected to develop their own original cosmology research
programs. Candidates with solid experience in LCDM N-body cosmology
simulations and willing to work on numerical relativistic (standard
general relativity) cosmology simulations will be strongly considered.
